One of 1,038 UK accountancy firms is ready to be recommended by AI

Accountancy firms publish their qualifications and name real authors more than almost any sector. Only 8% label that author in a way a machine can read, and not one firm uses the tag that hands AI a clean answer to quote.

One firm in 1,038 UK accountancy practices is ready to be recommended by AI assistants, according to the UK Accountants 2026 edition of the SearchScore AI Visibility Index. A single site, chacc.co.uk, clears the 80-point mark, which proves the standard is reachable and that almost nobody has reached it.

Accountants do the hard part well

The sector does the hard part well. 94% show their qualifications and 84% name a real author, which is higher than most sectors SearchScore measures. But only 8% label that author in a way a machine can read.

And then skip the label

The pattern repeats with answers. 97% let AI crawlers in, yet not one firm in the cohort uses the simple tag that hands an assistant a clean answer to quote. Of the firms that wrote a questions-and-answers section, 82% never added the tag that lets AI read it.

"Accountancy is a profession built on demonstrating credentials, and these firms do demonstrate them. To a human reader it is all there," said Ronnie Huss, founder of SearchScore. "Eight per cent have said it in a way a machine can verify. The rest are trusting the AI to infer their qualifications, and it does not infer, it looks for a label."

The sector averages 53 out of 100. Across the cohort, 33.8% of firms score Strong (60 to 79), 50.4% sit in the Emerging middle (40 to 59), 15.6% are Low Visibility (20 to 39) and 0.1% are effectively invisible.

"The leaders are not better accountants, they feed AI better," said Huss. "The gap between the top firms and the rest is tidy, well-labelled information, not the quality of the advice."
