The degree to which the AI answers in a category depend on a small number of repeatedly cited pages.
Source concentration describes how tightly the retrieved sets for a category cluster around the same handful of URLs. In a highly concentrated market a few round-ups, directories or comparison pages appear across most answers and most engines, so earning presence on one of them moves visibility far more than a broad content programme. Measuring concentration, by counting how many distinct engines cite each page, is what allows citation-earning effort to be ranked rather than spread evenly.
