The data - UK dentists 2026
We scored 3,399 UK dental practices. Two are AI-ready.
Every practice was scored on the same GEO framework - how readable, quotable and trustworthy it is to AI engines. The picture is remarkably consistent: the doors are open, the shelves are bare. These are the headline figures, free to quote.
53
Average GEO score out of 100 across all 3,399 practices. Most sit in the middle, readable but not quotable.
2
Practices scoring AI-Ready (GEO 80 or above) - just two in 3,399, or 0.1% of the field.
0
Practices, out of all 3,399, that publish a single clear, AI-quotable statistic on their site.
How the field breaks down
| Tier | GEO range | Share of practices |
| AI-Ready | 80 - 100 | 0.1% |
| Strong | 60 - 79 | 31.8% |
| Emerging | 40 - 59 | 51.9% |
| Low Visibility | 20 - 39 | 15.9% |
| Invisible | 0 - 19 | 0.3% |
More than half of all UK dental practices sit in the Emerging band - good enough for the AI to read, not good enough for it to recommend. The one practice that pulled clear of the field is Tower Dental, the top scorer at 86. It isn't a chain. It simply did the readable, trustworthy basics almost no one else does.
Where practices are strong - and where they collapse
Average scores by category, out of 100. Dental sites are technically fine and easy to reach. They fall apart on the two things AI trusts most: named expertise and authority.
- Technical basics76
- Easy for AI to quote73
- Topic coverage66
- Expertise & trust49
- Platform setup48
- AI-platform readiness44
- Labelled information37
- Brand authority (weakest)34
The single most valuable fix is the standard answer-schema label - the tag that tells an AI "this is a question and here is the answer". It's worth about 20 points, and 98% of practices still don't have it. Only 3% tag their FAQ at all, and only 11% name an author the AI can read. What separates the leaders from the rest is nothing exotic: a named author (47% of leaders versus 7% of the rest), answer schema (18% versus 1%) and a tagged FAQ (33% versus 9%).
