Major AI crawlers do not render JavaScript

Vercel's research on AI crawlers reports that none of the major AI crawlers currently render JavaScript, so content added only by client-side scripts may not be seen by them.

The claim

Content, proof or links that only appear after client-side JavaScript runs may be invisible to AI crawlers, even where Google can render them.

What the evidence shows

In "The rise of the AI crawler" (17 December 2024), Vercel reports: "The results consistently show that none of the major AI crawlers currently render JavaScript." This is a different risk from Google's deferred rendering (SS-EV-025): rather than being indexed late, content that exists only after scripts run may not be read by those crawlers at all. It is a dated observation of crawler behaviour, which can change.
