A shared vocabulary of types and properties used to mark up structured data on the web.

Schema.org is a collaborative vocabulary, backed by Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and Yandex, that defines standardised types such as Product, Article, Organization and FAQPage along with their properties. It provides the shared language that structured data uses, so that a page describing a recipe or a business is understood consistently across search engines. Choosing the most specific applicable type and populating required properties is central to earning rich results and clear entity understanding.
