Overview
Checks that search engines and AI crawlers can access, render and understand your site.
What this audit checks
Determines whether technical barriers are suppressing visibility, covering indexability, crawl efficiency, performance and structured data across the estate.
Indexability
- Confirm important pages are indexed and returning a 200 status
- Check for unintended noindex tags, robots blocks or canonical conflicts
- Verify the XML sitemap is current, valid and submitted
- Identify pages excluded in Search Console coverage reports
Crawl efficiency
- Review robots.txt for accidental blocking of assets or sections
- Detect redirect chains, loops and soft 404s wasting crawl budget
- Check that faceted or parameter URLs are not bloating the crawl
- Confirm AI crawler user agents are permitted where visibility is desired
Performance and rendering
- Measure Core Web Vitals for representative page templates
- Confirm key content renders without requiring client-side JavaScript
- Check mobile usability and responsive behaviour
Structured data
- Validate schema markup against the relevant type specifications
- Confirm markup reflects visible on-page content
- Flag deprecated or error-producing structured data
