Overview
Identifies the high-value queries your competitors capture and you do not.
What this audit checks
Determines where demand exists that your site fails to answer, quantifying the gap between the queries you rank for and the queries your market actually searches. It pinpoints the missing intents worth pursuing first.
Demand mapping
- Export the full query universe for your core topics from Search Console and a keyword source
- Cluster queries by intent so informational, commercial and navigational demand is separated
- Confirm each priority topic has at least one page targeting it
- Flag queries with meaningful volume where the site has no impressions
Competitor coverage
- List the queries three named competitors rank in the top ten for and you do not
- Identify shared queries where competitors outrank you by five positions or more
- Note query themes competitors own entirely with no presence from your domain
Intent fit
- Check whether existing pages match the dominant intent of the queries they attract
- Spot queries answered by the wrong page type (for example a blog post ranking for a buying query)
- Confirm answer-seeking queries have a page structured to answer directly
Gap prioritisation
- Score each gap by combined volume, business value and estimated effort to close
- Separate quick wins (existing near-miss pages) from net-new content requirements
- Rank the top ten gaps into an actionable shortlist
